Recurrent Infections & Immune Concerns

Every child picks up the occasional bug, but some seem to catch everything going around.

When infections come often, last longer than expected, or seem unusually severe, it is worth taking a closer look at what might be behind it, rather than treating each episode in isolation.

When Is Further Input Needed?

Some children need a more detailed workup involving a paediatric immunologist or another specialist. Dr Angela works closely with these specialists where necessary, coordinating care rather than leaving families to navigate referrals alone.

Day-to-Day

What Does This Mean For My Child Day-to-Day?

The goal is to understand why your child keeps falling ill and to build a plan around that reason, whether it involves further monitoring, treatment or simply reassurance that nothing serious is at play. Children with ongoing chest symptoms may also benefit from an assessment for asthma, allergies and respiratory health.

What Parents Can Expect From This Process

This kind of assessment can take a little longer than a routine visit, since it involves piecing together a fuller history. Parents are talked through each finding as it comes in, rather than left waiting for a single verdict at the end, and questions are welcomed throughout rather than saved for a final summary. There is rarely a need to rush this process, since getting it right matters more than getting it done quickly.

The Assessment

What Might This Assessment Involve?

  1. 1Dr Angela reviews each child's infection history, growth, vaccination record, previous treatments and relevant family history to build a fuller picture
  2. 2Where indicated, this may include specialised investigations and a review of how your child has responded to past vaccinations
  3. 3This groundwork often takes more than one visit to complete properly, which is a normal part of the process rather than a sign that something has been missed
