Asthma, Allergies and Respiratory Health
Assessment and ongoing management of wheezing, coughing, eczema and suspected allergies.
Asthma, Allergies & Respiratory Health
A cough that will not shift, wheezing that flares up at night, a rash that keeps returning after certain food means your little one may have a respiratory or allergic condition.
Respiratory and allergic conditions in children take many forms, and getting the right diagnosis makes a real difference to daily life, at home, at school and on the sports field.
What Conditions Are Assessed?
Dr Angela Colquhoun assesses and treats recurrent wheezing, persistent coughing, shortness of breath, frequent chest infections, allergic rhinitis, eczema and suspected food or environmental allergies. Each child is assessed individually, since the same symptom can point to different underlying causes in different children.
Ongoing Care
What Is The Goal Of Ongoing Care?
Good symptom control means fewer flare-ups and more good days, so your child can breathe, sleep, play and take part in daily life with less disruption. Where feeding or growth is also a concern, this is addressed alongside respiratory care. See growth, nutrition and digestive health.

Living With Asthma Or Allergies Day To Day
An asthma or allergy plan is only useful if it fits real life, so plans are built around school, sport and home routines rather than handed over as a generic sheet. Adjustments are made as your child grows and their triggers change, and plans are reviewed regularly rather than left to run indefinitely.

What Does Treatment Look Like?
- 1Depending on what is found, treatment may include appropriate investigations, inhaler education, a personalised asthma or allergy management plan, and guidance on avoiding known triggers at home and school
- 2Inhaler technique is checked regularly too, since even a well-chosen device only helps when it is used correctly
